“Snow Day”

This Mural and design is the second installment of 4 total murals that will be painted at the Ovation Development in Newport, KY by Corporex. I have to send out a special thanks to Taylor Helms for helping me complete this project.

When Corporex reached out to me at the end of 2022, they were interested in having 4 murals painted. Their only design request was for these murals to have a timeless design. That instantly made me think of the 4 seasons and the 4 elements. I then paired up each season with an element. Summer with Fire, Fall with Earth, Winter with Wind, and Spring with Water.

This Mural is meant to represent Winter and Wind. The design is composed of two figures, bundled up, playing in the snow. Almost every element of the design is semi-fragmented to add a layer of depth, create a more impressionistic aesthetic, and add to the mystic and wonder of playing outside during a snow storm.

This mural celebrates the beauty of Winter and the power of wind by transforming them into a scene of warmth, nostalgia, and wonder. Through a semi-abstract forest painted in cool blues, purples, and greens, a golden light breaks through, illuminating two children joyfully playing in the snow—a reminder of the excitement of a “snow day.” Subtle details, like a softly hidden owl and glowing snowflakes, add mystery and magic, while the balance of warm and cool colors evokes both serenity and delight. The design invites viewers to rediscover the joy and enchantment that even the coldest days of winter can bring.
