HORIZON COMMUNITY MURAL

“Horizon Community Mural”

This Mural was designed and painted for the non-profit organization Horizon Community Foundation, at their new office at the ONE NKY center in Covington, KY. I have to send out a special thanks to the talented Hanna Smith for helping me complete this project.

This mural design is meant to represent the core values of Horizon Community Foundation, philanthropy, uplifting those in need in the Northern Kentucky Area, and growing prosperity in the region.

At first glance, you will see hands embracing 3 pots, out of which is an expanse of growth, energy, and movement. These pots represent the 3 counties of Northern Kentucky that Horizon targets with their giving, Boone, Kenton, and Campbell. The core idea of the design is that through Horizon’s hard work, we are planting the seeds for future growth in our communities.

All of the flowers in the design were chosen based on their meaning, which aligns with Horizon’s core values and tenants. Dahlias (Kindness, loyalty, strength, supporting someone in need), Jasmine (gift from god), Sunflowers (generosity and warmth), Peonies (Goodwill, Joy, Prosperity when given), Azaleas (Take care of yourself for me), Tulips (Charity and Love), Irises (Deep Trust and Faith), Daisies (Connection).

I have also included a honey bee and Viceroy Butterfly in the design, which are Kentucky’s state insects, which adds another anchor to the location Horizon targets with their work.
